Unlike drawing statistics, this actually changes the answer. A game whose top prizes have all been claimed still costs the same on the shelf—it is simply worth less. We track what is left.
Why this is different from our drawing statistics
Nothing about a Powerball number's history changes its odds next draw. Scratch-offs are not like that. Every game is printed with a fixed number of prizes, and once they are claimed they are gone—while the unsold tickets stay on the counter at full price.
So "this game has no top prize left" is a fact you can act on, not a pattern we imagined. That is the one place in the lottery where analysis genuinely helps, and it is the only place we will tell you a game is a worse buy than another.
What we will not do
We will not tell you a ticket is "due", and we will not rank a game as a good buy because unclaimed jackpots inflate its average. Late in a print run those averages can exceed the ticket price while your real chance of reaching that money is worse than one in a hundred thousand. Where that happens we say so plainly instead of burying it in a number.
